Mathopoly: Every Roll Has to Be Earned

A 3D property-trading board game where you do not get to move until you solve the question. Buy blocks, charge rent, build Study Halls, and turn a city into a scoreboard for how well you actually know ACT and SAT Math.

A board game that cannot be played badly on purpose

Most educational games bolt a quiz onto something fun and hope the fun carries it. Mathopoly does the opposite: the maths is the dice. Before you move, a question comes up drawn from the same bank that powers VECTOR's practice tool, and how you answer decides how your turn goes. There is no way to grind the game without also grinding the skill.

Everything else is the board game you already know how to play. Properties have title deed cards with a printed price, a rent ladder and a mortgage value. Completing a colour set doubles the rent. Four Study Halls upgrade into a University. Stations pay more for every one you hold; labs charge a multiple of the dice. If you have played Monopoly, you already know the rules — the only new one is that you earn the roll.

Real title deeds

Land on a property and you see the actual card: price, the full rent ladder, what each building costs and what it mortgages for. Enough to decide whether the deal is good, instead of guessing.

An economy that bites

Cash matters. Rent compounds as opponents build, monopolies double it, and a bad run of answers is the fastest way to hand someone else the board.

Questions that regenerate

The bank is procedural, so the same topic comes back with new numbers every time. You cannot memorise your way through it.

Knowledge Circuit: what you know becomes what you can do

Mathopoly has two modes. Classic Study is the straight game — answer, roll, buy, build. Knowledge Circuit adds the part that makes knowing the maths tactically valuable rather than just necessary.

In Knowledge Circuit you earn Insight by answering correctly on the first try. Not by retrying until you land it — first try, which is the only version that measures whether you actually knew it. Insight caps at five, so you are always deciding between spending it now and saving for something bigger:

Insight deliberately sits outside the property economy. It cannot buy you a deed, reduce a printed price or overrule the bank — the board's arithmetic stays honest. It only ever buys you one of those three tactics, which means a player who knows the maths gets sharper choices, not a bigger wallet.

Choose the test you are actually sitting

Before the first roll you pick the exam and the section, and the question bank follows you for the whole game. ACT Math and Digital SAT Math are the defaults because Mathopoly is a maths game first, but the full VECTOR bank is available if you want a mixed circuit that also pulls English, Reading, or SAT Reading & Writing.

You also set the difficulty band and the length of the circuit, so a game can be a ten-minute warm-up before a study session or a full match that runs the whole board. Opponents are bots with different play styles, so the game is complete on its own with nobody else around.

Mathopoly is one of two VECTOR games

The other is Ascent, which takes the same question engine somewhere completely different: you climb a real mountain, built from actual NASA elevation data, choosing between three routes up every stage. Trail is gentle and hides shortcuts. Face is the fall line — fastest, and riddled with couloirs that drop you. Ridge sits in between. Right answers carry you up; wrong ones cost you altitude.

Both games run on VECTOR's question bank, so time in either one is time on the material. If a Mathopoly question exposes a topic you are shaky on, the practice tool drills exactly that.

Roll. Solve. Build.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mathopoly free?

Yes — free to play with no account and no card. VECTOR's only paid product is a score-guaranteed course, and you never need it to play the game or to use the practice tool.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile. The first load pulls in about 2 MB of 3D city, which takes a moment; after that it is cached and starts quickly.

Which exams does it cover?

ACT Math and Digital SAT Math are the defaults. You can also play a mixed circuit that draws on ACT English, ACT Reading and SAT Reading & Writing from the same bank.

Can I play against other people?

Yes. Open a room, send the six-character code, and up to six of you play the same board — the dice, the rent and the turn order are decided by the server, so nobody can nudge them. You can trade deeds and cash with each other, and you can still play solo against bots instead. Online matches leave out the Chance and Equation Chest cards and the Insight tactics for now, and if you cannot cover a rent your properties are mortgaged for you rather than by you. Everything else — buying, rent, colour sets, building, bankruptcy — is the full economy.

Does playing actually help my score?

It helps the way any deliberate practice helps: the questions are real, they regenerate so you cannot memorise them, and you see a worked explanation when you miss. It is not a substitute for timed full-length sections, which is what the practice tests are for. Use the game to put in volume on a topic you find dull, and the tests to prove it under the clock.

What is a Study Hall?

Mathopoly's version of a house. Build four on a completed colour set and they upgrade into a University, which is the top of the rent ladder for that property.
